In the paper, we introduce a new agglomeration kernel based on the work of René David (implemented in SysCAD as ‘David-Rijkeboer’), accounting for both laminar and turbulent flow regimes within a precipitation tank. We also present an operations-focused calibration wheel, whereby plant data and fundamental correlations are employed simultaneously to balance productivity (A/C), particle count and %<45μm. The paper concludes with an in-depth review of the state of the art of simulation of growth, agglomeration and nucleation processes.
